The Creator and Curator

Justice Shorter
Justice Shorter is not only the Founding Executive Director of SeededGround, she is also the creator and curator of Portraits & Portals. Justice has interviewed each participant to connect artists and storytellers with care and consideration. Her devotion is on display during every interaction with artists/storytellers. The tremendous amount of time and tenderness she has invested is evident in the fierce spirit of interdependence fortified in each artistic piece. Her contributions can thus be observed in chosen themes, concepts, materials, mediums and the works of art produced.
Justice is a skilled organizer/facilitator, Disability Justice amplifier and senior advisor on issues at the intersection of race, disability, gender, health, climate, and crises. She is a national expert on disability inclusive disaster protections, emergency management and humanitarian crises/conflicts. As a curator and composer, she has orchestrated immersive training experiences for thousands of participants worldwide. As a strategist and dreamscaper, she has worked with countless organizations to meaningfully and measurably enhance their equity efforts. As a seasoned facilitator, she has guided multiple groups through virtual convenings, joyful gatherings and conflict mitigation. Her past portfolios overflow with powerful projects. Most recently, SeededGround produced the Disaster Justice Guidebook for People of Color with Disabilities as well as EMprints, an illustrative series with over 20 free Disaster Justice themed coloring pages, activity pages and journal pages.

About SeededGround
Formed by Justice Shorter, SeededGround is an agency devoted to content creation that centers people with disabilities in general and people of color with disabilities in particular. We sow justice and harvest dreams through projects that are imaginative and intersectional. We curate in consideration of community needs, creative capacities, and client requests. Our portfolios are comprised of projects that involve facilitation, accessibility standards/practices, cultural work, advocacy campaigns, cross-movement organizing, multi-media productions, strategic/operational planning, research studies, generative gatherings, and archival efforts. Our work is lovingly wedded to worldbuilding disabled dreams into fruition.

About The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies
The Partnership for Inclusive Disaster Strategies (The Partnership) is the only U.S. disability-led, 501(c)(3) organization that prioritizes equity, access, disability rights, disability justice, and full inclusion of people with disabilities, older adults, and people with access and functional needs before, during and after disasters and emergencies. We recognize that prevention, planning, response, recovery and mitigation must start with and be led by multiply marginalized disabled people who are the most disproportionately impacted.
